Review - Rock Band Blitz

The rhythm gaming genre has come a long way, hasn’t it? From the early days of pressing buttons like in Parappa the Rapper, to the days of plastic instruments in Guitar Hero and Rock Band, all the way up to the most recent craze of actually, physically dancing to the music like in Just Dance and Dance Central, the rhythm/music genre is a constantly changing beast. Yet still, there’s always been one company constantly pushing that genre forward and trying to top themselves each and every time a new game is released and that company is Harmonix.

Harmonix singled-handedly changed the entire genre several times over with each new release. Not only did they introduce the world to Guitar Hero, but they took that idea one step forward with the Rock Band games and changed the dancing sub-genre with Dance Central for use with the X-Box 360’s Kinect. Harmonix knows their music games and they want you to know it. But, with their latest release, it seems Harmonix isn’t as concerned with pushing the genre forward as it is with bringing it back to basics. Enter their newest addition to their library of music gaming epics; Rock Band Blitz.

Review - Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion XL

If you haven't seen it already, Steven reviewed Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion XL for Xbox 360 (a "Super" version of the same game on 3DS that's also available on Wii, PS3). Steven worked really hard to make it look like it was produced professionally and it really shows. So, check it out, comment, and tell Steven he should do more!

Also, if you're wondering where the art for Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion XL made to look like the Brawl boxart came from, Steven drew it himself! (Boy, that was a mouthful) You can see a higher res version on his facebook here.

Mario Kart Madness Betrayal #2 starts in about 20 minutes!

In case you haven't heard, Adamant Ditto fans will now be referred to as Shiny Dittos! Matt won't be here today so I'll be handling the stream today. Thanks for joining us last weekend for mario kart madness betrayal. I was pulling my hair out because there are problems with how Mario Kart 7's online play works but for the most part, it was good enough. I'm happy to announce Mario Kart Madness Betrayal #2! We'll be hanging out at the same place at the same time. 7 PM CST on Sunday at our stream, twitch.tv/impishmatt.

Like I mentioned before, Mario Kart 7's online play isn't really intuitive. So, I came up with a makeshift solution but it involves some cooperation from you guys. Last time, I created a second community so it would be easier to manage who goes into what group. This was because Mario Kart 7 seems to randomly determine which group you go in within a single community. For example if there are two groups waiting around to start, it's not possible to choose which group you want to join. With separate communities, it would be ideal for one group per community so you know which group you're joining.

I know you guys are really excited just to race anybody but please wait until the room is full or at least close to being full before starting a match. You can also wait for us to give you guys the go. Sometimes, it may start automatically after a certain amount of time has passed and I honestly don't know what determines it but I'm going to guess that you need to spam "Let's wait for more players." to keep it from going. Maybe. Anyway, hope to see you guys there!

Review - Nintendo 3DS XL

A few of you might remember that I wrote an Article on What I would like to see happen with the next 3DS. Well, this was before the XL was even announced, and after seeing the XL for the first time, I wanted it. Now, I have an XL in my hands, and I'd like to share my thoughts on it with you fine people.

Adamant Ditto Review: New Super Mario Bros. 2

We meet again, Mario. We meet again.

Alright everyone, we've got another Mario game on the docket, and not just any Mario, New Super Mario Bros. 2. Ultimately, that's exactly what it says on the box. We've played New Super Mario Bros. and we've played New Super Mario Bros. Wii, this game didn't bring much new to the plate.

VGM of the Week #42

My turn again, alright, let's do this!

My VGM of the Week this week is from one of the best Gamecube games you didn't play; Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg.

G.I.A.N.T. E.G.G! Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg is the simple tale of a boy in a chicken suit who must save all the chicken elders from the evil crows and bring peace back to the land. All while hatching magical monsters to help him in his quest. Okay, it's completely stupid but it's a lot of fun and highly overlooked.

The music, much like the game, is up-beat and bubbly and just dripping with charm. This specific track is title "Let's Go Easy" and it's from the pirate themed stage, Pirates Island, which is probably my favorite world in the game. I don't know, you just can't wrong with pirates. The theme may not scream pirate adventures, but it is definitely fun and inviting. If your pirate ship was playing this music, I'd gladly get on board!

New Pokémon Sheet: Girafarig

Wow...That was a long hiatus...Almost a full month since I finished my last Pokémon sheet (I can barely remember that it was Wigglytuff). I guess that's what happens when you start a new Project, and get a new game (I'm still playing Kingdom Hearts 3D, and I beat it a few weeks ago)

Anyway, I finally got around to making Girafarig. I love this guy. Everything from the Typing to the Design. I just think it's so cool! Especially because he's immune to Ghost Type Moves! I just wish his stats were better so he could be more useable...

Next up is a Special sheet. It's my 350th! So without further ado: Next up is a Legendary Pokémon who has Two Forms. Both of which have Serene Grace as their Ability

VGM of the Week #41

As I was looking through my library of assorted video game music for a new ringtone, I came across this and thought it would work really well.

I'm not using it as a ringtone anymore because I decided to make my ringtones from Kirby (because my wallpaper is Kirby as a result of my phone being pink). Still, I felt Jet Set Radio Future deserves some love here. Jet Set Radio HD is coming out in September which is still a ways to go (it was supposed to come out this summer!). Hopefully it does well enough for us to get Jet Set Radio Future HD because it would be nice to not own an original xbox just to play JSRF. I know the 360 is backwards compatible with it but from what I hear, the 360 emulates it poorly and there's a lot of slowdown. No thanks.

Quirky Ditto - Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale Beta Impressions

So recently, Don won a beta key for the upcoming mascot brawler, Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale and through the magic of technology, I got to get my hands on it too. So hey, why not do some hands-on impressions and gameplay footage for all you lovely viewers? There's two parts so be sure to check both of them out. It's a pretty fun game and we cover quite a bit, we think anyway. But hey, we're not professionals so don't blame us if we missed something. Or if we swear when we die. A lot.

VGM of the Week # 40

With the recent release of Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, I felt the need to pick a track from it. Knowing that the 'The World Ends with You' cast shows up, I knew that there would be a track from The World Ends with You.

Then the Demo was released, and boy was I right. One of my favorite Tracks from The World Ends with You, was made even more awesome. So here it is, My pick: Twister: Kingdom Mix!

Review - Sonic & The Black Knight

Not to post over Josh's Kingdom Hearts review or anything but I decided it was finally time to get back to that whole Sonic Game reviews thing I was doing forever ago. So, here's my review of Sonic and the Black Knight for the Nintendo Wii. It's not very good and there's a lot of waggle but hey, at least I'm done with all the really bad Sonic games!

Review - Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance

It should be no surprise that quite a few of us here at Adamant Ditto are fans of this Disney-meets-Final Fantasy Franchise. I'm not ashamed to admit that when the first game came out 10 years ago (I feel really old saying that), I was skeptical. Afterall, it's not the First crossover people would expect, but it was pulled off so well! This game's no exception. It features brand new Disney Worlds, and brings back classic series staples, like Traverse Town (Of course, we haven't been to about half of this game's Traverse Town). It's actually one of the few games that pushes the Story forward, rather than filling the Gap between the Two 'Main' games.
